The grand epic, Mahabharat, has been adapted on the Indian small
screen for three times now but this is the first time that
Mahabharat-lovers will watch it on the big screen too. The high-budget
animation of Mahabharat has been out with its first trailer for
cine-goers and producer Jayantilal Gada has done the honour.
Popular Bollywood stars have lent their voices for this epic
animated movie version. Megastar Amitabh Bachchan will be heard as
Bhishma, Sunny Deol as Bheem, Vidya Balan as Draupadi, Manoj Bajpai as
Yudhistir, Ajay Devgan as Arjun, Anil Kapoor as Karna, Jackie Shroff as
Duryodhan and Anupam Kher as Shakuni – Gandhar’s evil prince. To give a
more convincing look to the animated characters, the filmmakers have
also given them the actors’ looks in the film. Some portrayals have also
disturbed the viewers as Gada’s Draupadi is quite fat and frumpy,
though the original Draupadi is known for her slim waist, dusky
complexion and incomparable beauty. Similarly Pandavas’s characters with
moustaches have also not been well-accepted by the viewers. Above all
the Pandavas are not quite attractive and are also looking aged. Now the
final destiny of this “most expensive” animated film will be left for
the judgement by its viewers only.
